Internships form a very crucial part of the resume of a student. A good internship experience influences the future placement of a student by a considerable manner. A college education might serve the student with a degree and depict the academic proficiency in various theoretical and practical aspects. An internship, on the other hand, provides a student an opportunity to work in real life situations with a team. Thus, an internship provides a student an incredible professional experience along with a way to improve his/her personality and self-confidence. Awaaz, IIT Kharagpur presents the analysis of CDC Internships provided to the students this year.
A total of 315 internships were provided by various companies through cdc in the year of 2016-17. Samsung offered the highest number of internships (23) followed by Wipro (20) and Goldman Sachs (14). Out of the internships offered, 195 students from B.Tech course have bagged an internship through CDC whereas the remaining 120 students are from Dual Degree courses.
Department wise analysis is a pivotal analysis that students mostly wish to refer to. A student’s department has been seen to have an important role towards influencing the internship offer. This year, the students of the department of Computer Science and Engineering have obtained the maximum number of offers (54). Among the students of CSE, 51 students are from B.Tech whereas just 3 students are from Dual Degree course. The CSE Department has been followed by the department of Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering (53), with 37 students of B.Tech and 16 students of Dual Degree course. Such trends have been consistently seen over the past years. The number for CH and ME is 33, EE is 31 and MA is 26. However, a very low number of students from the AG, BT, CY, GG, NA could get a CDC internship. This needs to be looked by the administration and some measures must be taken to improve the situation of these departments.
